After 3 years of running a pre school for 36 students every year we have found that Hope of the Nations needed to also have a primary school. After completing H of N pre school and learning English, reading, writing, life skills, and Bible we found that the Government school was not able to continue with an excellent education.
The Government schools are over crowed with 60-80 students in a classroom and only one teacher. They have no supplies or desks for the children. A blackboard is the only form of teaching they are able to do. H of N has offered many teachers training sessions at the Government schools and even helped with some supplies, but again we need to have our own primary school. The Government school in the Kamala area is very supportive of this next step.
The pre school and primary school will continue to be free for the poorest of poor children most being orphaned. Kamala village is the poorest area in Tanzania which is why H of N choice to start there first.
2 meals a day are provided and will be for the primary school students as well. These are the only meals 90% of the children receive. Having meals also provides jobs for the Nationals in preparing the food. All the teachers are Nationals that H of N has sent to school to be certified or are in the process. Again providing jobs for the Nationals.
A primary school includes grades 1-7 which means many more resources and funds are needed.
God has opened the door for a teacher from the states to come out and help open the 1st primary school! We are excited as Jerrianne comes with many years of experience and with a heart for the children in Kamala. After visiting she knew she had to come back and help these children.
Kamala village has given Hope of the Nations a 3 acre piece of land that is also close to the H of N pre school. 2 developers from the states have already gone over the land and drawn up plans that would work best for the area. Jerrianne will arrive in August of this year. Things are moving right along HOWEVER H of N still needs YOUR HELP.
