History
As we have been living and serving here in Tanzania, our ministry has taken several twists and turns. God seems to be leading us and shaping the ministry, as He wants. It is very exciting!
How Do You Change A Nation?
That is the question we’ve asked ourselves since we came to Tanzania. There are so many things that we could be doing, but the longer we were here, the more we see the need to teach. The only way to effect change in a whole nation is to teach the people about Jesus. You may be saying to yourself, “Hmm…a missionary teaching about Jesus…it just may work…DUH!” I know, it sounds obvious, but I mean teaching beyond the salvation message. Salvation has been taught in Africa for years, yet the corruption and conflict continues to an alarming degree. We need to teach about the Kingdom of God – that’s what Jesus did – and to make disciples – that’s what Jesus said to do. Ultimately it is the only hope a nation has.
The education needs to start at a very young age. We need to raise up a generation that will live as children of the King – no matter what the generation before them did. The education needs to continue to the youth – the future leaders.
The education definitely needs to reach the pastors – those who are responsible to equip the church for the work of the ministry. How can they equip the saints when they are not equipped themselves? This has become our heart’s desire. It became our goal to start at each end of the spectrum. The first schools were to be a Pre-School and a Bible College.
As a result of the direction God was taking us, Hope of the Nations was born.
I had been praying and thinking about how Jesus was the only hope for changing this – or any – nation. I was also trying to think of a name for our ministry.
One morning, during a time of quiet and listening, God led me to Matt. 12:21 “In His name the nations will put their hope.” - hence
Hope of the Nations.
The pastor’s seminars that I would teach out in the villages and refugee camps, led to the start of the Bible College. The Pre-School has also started, with the main target being orphans and the poorest in the community.
